Surreal Monthly - July 2020

Hello everyone!  Welcome to "Surreal Monthly" where I go over everything that has happened on the blog for each month!  So, here's what's been happening in March!

*Hey everyone!  Sorry I haven't been posting as much as I should have.  I have been so busy trying to watch more surreal movies and TV shows that I just didn't have the time to post up reviews for them.  Hopefully, August will be a better month for me in terms of keeping up with my reviews.  But, some good news that happened in July is that I am now a partner of Smashbomb!  That means that you get to see my reviews be posted on the site!  So, if you also have a Smashbomb account, please feel free to follow me HERE.*

TV and Movie News that Happened this Month:

Updates on Reviews 2.0:

* I'm currently in the process of redoing my "Reviews 2.0" videos since I wanted to add in some clips from the movies and TV shows that I've watched and actually make the videos more interesting.  So, here are some of the updated reviews I did this month!*

Movies and TV Shows I've Watched this Month:

Palm Springs (2020) - IMDb

* .When I heard about all the praise about this film, I was like "what was so good about this film?"  So, I finally got the chance to watch this film and I was ABSOLUTELY blown away by this film!  I just loved the bizarre sci-fi elements that happened in this film and the fun mood of the movie!  It's definitely become my favorite film of the year (so far)!

Extraction (2020 film) - Wikipedia

* So, I've been holding off on watching this movie for awhile now because it involved the military and I usually avoid movies that deal with the military or war in general.  But, when I actually sat down and watched this movie, it actually wasn't about the military and I really enjoyed it!  I thought that Chris Hemsworth did a fantastic job at playing the mercenary in this film and it was great seeing him do a more serious role!

[WEBSITE REVIEW] Smashbomb

So, I was browsing through the internet and I noticed this new website called "Smashbomb" and I also noticed that a lot of movie (and book) bloggers were using this site.  So, I was thinking to myself about whether or not I should join this website too and I'm actually glad that I did!
Smashbomb actually has a lot of awesome things to offer!  For one thing, not only do you get to review movies on that site, but you also get to review books, TV shows and video games; which is fantastic for me since I'm an avid reader and TV watcher!  It's rare that I come across a website that allows you to review everything and I'm so happy that Smashbomb happens to be that website!  Another thing that I like about Smashbomb is that they allow you to make lists.  I always enjoyed making lists like "My Favorite Horror Movies" or "Weirdest Movies I Have Ever Seen" so that way I can keep track of all the movies that I have seen over the years and be able to arrange them by genre or by directors if needed.  Some other content that they offer includes orbs (or forum boards as I like to call them), polls and giveaways.  I especially loved the forum boards they have on this site as it allows me to connect with other users of the site and I also get some information about various movies, TV shows or video games that are currently out.  I also loved the polls section since I always wanted to know what other people think about the movies or TV shows that have been released and what better way to find out about other people's opinions than through the polls alone?

But the one thing that I really liked about this website is that it offers KP (also known as Kudos Points).  These points can be received by other users if they like your reviews or it can be received by adding new items to the website or just by logging in everyday!  I always loved going to websites where you receive points because you usually get special prizes if you reach a certain number of points and Smashbomb's KP system allows you to use the points to buy badges, get entered into giveaways and especially, get free stuff to review!

Now, if I had an issue with this website is that I wished that the rating system included half star ratings like "9.5" or "8.5."  The reason why I wanted the half star ratings is because I personally think that they are more accurate representations of people's opinions about a product they are reviewing and whenever I'm reviewing movies, I tend to use the half star rating to rate the movies I've watched.  Another thing that might be problematic for some people is that sometimes its hard to navigate around the website because there are so many additions to the site, like giveaways, polls or forum boards and it can get a little overwhelming at times.

Overall, Smashbomb is a fantastic website to use if you want to review basically anything like movies, TV shows and video games and if you want a little more variety in a website like doing polls or giveaways.
