Thursday Movie Picks #47: Holiday Action Movies

Hey! Welcome to Thursday Movie Picks where you get to share your movie picks for each topic presented every Thursday!  Based on the theme presented each week, you can pick up to 3 to 5 movies and explain why you picked those movies! This meme is being hosted by Wandering through the Shelves!

This week's theme is: Holiday Action Movies!

Hello everyone!  Happy Christmas Eve!!  I can't believe that Christmas is just a day away and I will definitely be spending it with my family!  Anyway, this week's pick is an interesting one as it's about holiday movies that are full of action!  It's kind of rare that you see Christmas movies that have action in it.  So, for this list, I will be listing superhero movies that took place during the Christmas holidays (because that's a creative way to look at this topic) that I've watched!

A newly fostered young boy in search of his mother instead finds unexpected super powers and soon gains a powerful enemy.

I remembered when I watched this movie in theaters in 2019 (when theaters were still open) and I remembered loving this movie!  Shazam was such a hilarious and fantastic character and it was nice to have a DC movie that was actually light hearted for once!  Also, this movie took place during Christmas!

While Batman deals with a deformed man calling himself the Penguin wreaking havoc across Gotham with the help of a cruel businessman, a female employee of the latter becomes Catwoman with her own vendetta.

This was probably the oddest Batman movie that I have ever seen (although the fact that it was directed by Tim Burton was probably a dead giveaway).  Yes, it takes place on Christmas, but this movie had a shockingly horror atmosphere to it and there were times where I didn't believe it was a Christmas movie, until I saw the numerous Christmas trees throughout the movie.  But overall, this was a pretty interesting movie!

When Tony Stark's world is torn apart by a formidable terrorist called the Mandarin, he starts an odyssey of rebuilding and retribution.

Oh looky here!  Another superhero movie that takes place during the Christmas holidays!  Anyway, while this movie wasn't as fantastic as the very first "Iron Man," it was way better than the second movie and I really loved Tony Stark's character arc in this movie!  Of course, there was that controversy about the Mandarin's true identity, but still this movie was enjoyable to watch!
