Thursday Movie Picks #23: TMP Television Edition: Rivalry

Hey! Welcome to Thursday Movie Picks where you get to share your movie picks for each topic presented every Thursday!  Based on the theme presented each week, you can pick up to 3 to 5 movies and explain why you picked those movies! This meme is being hosted by Wandering through the Shelves!

This week's theme is: TMP Television Edition: Rivalry

Oooh! I love this week's theme!  I have watched so many awesome rivalries on TV that I just have to give a shout out to some of my all-time favorite TV rivalries!

1. Scrubs: J.D. vs. the Janitor

Aw man!  I just loved this rivalry!  Seeing the Janitor constantly pestering J.D. in the hospital was one of the most iconic and hilarious rivalries that I've ever seen in all of television!

2. The Simpsons: Homer Simpson vs. Ned Flanders

Homer Simpson's rivalry with Ned Flanders was always interesting to me.  You have Ned Flanders who is a friendly Christian neighbor to Homer's more grouchy and slob behavior.  Those two contrasting personalities have made some comedy gold with this series!

3. South Park: Cartman vs. Kyle

Cartman and Kyle's rivalry was another interesting rivalry in television.  Just seeing Kyle trying to prevent Cartman from doing anything horrible, while Cartman do as he pleases while torturing Kyle at the same time was so hilarious to me!

Thursday Movie Picks #22: Child Actors Venturing Out of Typecasting

Hey! Welcome to Thursday Movie Picks where you get to share your movie picks for each topic presented every Thursday!  Based on the theme presented each week, you can pick up to 3 to 5 movies and explain why you picked those movies! This meme is being hosted by Wandering through the Shelves!

This week's theme is: Child Actors Venturing Out of Typecasting!

Now, this week's theme was a bit tough for me since I have to think really hard about what actors and actresses were child stars and what roles they took where they broke their typecasting.  So, I had stumbled upon a couple of movies where the former child star actors had taken on roles that were very different from what they normally play as!

An idealistic, straight-edge teacher is drawn down a horrid rabbit hole by an honors student when he gives him a B+ on a paper.
Remember the Disney Channel series, "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody?"  Remember that Dylan Sprouse had played one of the twins in that show?  Well, there was a movie called "Dismissed" where he played as an honors student who ends up going on a killing spree when his teacher gave him a decent grade!  Yeah! I was actually shocked that Dylan Sprouse was playing as a psycho killer in this film that went against his more comedic role in "Zack and Cody!"

Recuperating from trauma, Jennifer remains in danger as she returns to a life she doesn't remember.
Brenda Song was another actress who came from "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody" (she played London, the ditzy hotel heiress)!  So, imagine my shock and surprise when I found out that Brenda Song was playing as an amnesiac victim in this suspense thriller!

A young boy stays with his aunt and uncle and befriends his cousin, a boy of the same age who begins showing increasing signs of violent and pychopathic behavior.

Remember Kevin from the "Home Alone" movies?  Well, Macaulay Culkin played an infamous role in "The Good Son" as a psychotic little kid who would murder people!  Also, the fact that Macaulay Culkin was still a child when he played this role was pretty shocking!

Thursday Movie Picks #21: Super Long Titles

Hey! Welcome to Thursday Movie Picks where you get to share your movie picks for each topic presented every Thursday!  Based on the theme presented each week, you can pick up to 3 to 5 movies and explain why you picked those movies! This meme is being hosted by Wandering through the Shelves!

This week's theme is: Super Long Titles!

I'm surprised that there are so many movies out there that have such LONG TITLES!  So, I will be listing some of the longest titles EVER to the movies I have seen so far!

Four kids travel through a wardrobe to the land of Narnia and learn of their destiny to free it with the guidance of a mystical lion.

I loved this movie when it first came out!  There were so many awesome scenes of the kids in Narnia and I especially loved the battle sequences towards the end of the movie!  Such a wonderful and magical film!

The infamous story of Benjamin Barker, a.k.a Sweeney Tood, who sets up a barber shop in London which is the basis for a sinister partnership with his fellow tenant, Mrs. Lovett.

I remembered watching this movie years ago and I have to say that this is Tim Burton's most VIOLENT film to date!  So many BLOODY kills in this movie!  It definitely wasn't a movie that I was expecting from Tim Burton, but it was pretty entertaining!

Gandalf and Aragorn lead the World of Men against Sauron's army to draw his gaze from Frodo and Sam as they approach Mount Doom with the One Ring.

I remembered watching this movie years ago and loving it so much!  But it's been a while since I last seen this movie (or the whole trilogy), so I don't remember much from this movie.  I need to rewatch this trilogy again someday!
