Thursday Movie Picks #64: Movies with a Body Part in the Title

Hey! Welcome to Thursday Movie Picks where you get to share your movie picks for each topic presented every Thursday!  Based on the theme presented each week, you can pick up to 3 to 5 movies and explain why you picked those movies! This meme is being hosted by Wandering through the Shelves!

This week's theme is: Movies with a Body Part in the Title!

Wow!  This is a really interesting topic!  There are many movies out there that have body parts in the title, whether that's related to said body part or not.  But, here are some movies with body parts in the title that I'm either interested in or have seen before!

An artificial man, who was incompletely constructed and has scissor for hands, leads a solitary life.  Then one day, a suburban lady meets him and introduces him to her world.

I've seen this movie when I was younger and I remembered being sadden by Edward's inability to be accepted into society because of his scissor hands.  I definitely need to rewatch this film sometime down the line!

2. Jaws

When a killer shark unleashes chaos on a beach community off Long Island, it's up to a local sheriff, a marine biologist, and an old seafarer to hunt the beast down.

This is an old school classic that I still haven't seen yet, even though I own this movie on Blu-Ray.  I better start watching this movie soon!

3. Happy Feet

Into the world of the Emperor Penguins, who find their soul mates through song, a penguin is born who cannot sing.  But he can tap dance something fierce!

Not my most favorite movie in the world, but I do think that the concept about penguins singing and dancing was pretty entertaining!

  1. I love your first two picks! I didn't care much for Happy Feet, but I'm glad Brittany Murphy got a role where she could sing.

  2. Terrific choices!

Edward Scissorhands has such a sweetly pensive air with insightful performances and provided Vincent Price with a lovely grace note to end his cinematic career on.

I've seen enough of Happy Feet from being around when my nieces and nephews were watching it endlessly to know I've seen all I want to of it but Jaws is another matter entirely.

I had the opportunity to see Jaws when it was out and massively popular but put it off since I'm not the biggest fan of the ocean to begin with(going into not being near it, which I love) and didn't need another deterrent but several years later I did catch up with it and it was wonderful and gripping....and as disconcerting as I suspected! You should definitely give it a look as soon as possible.

I'm not playing along this year but when I saw the theme three popped into my head instantly so I'm sharing. The first was my favorite Carole Lombard film-"Hands Across the Table" a hidden gem of a comedy. An early Barbara Stanwyck film "Banjo on My Knee" which is a middling effort with a cast better than the material and finally a film I loathed but works Sam Peckinpah's "Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia".

  3. I love the fairy tale, “Edward Scissorhands” which had such a sad ending. I also love your choice of Jaws which I didn’t think of. My favourite part is when they are on the boat and Shaw’s character describes his horrific ordeal during WW2. A true story. Happy Feet was sweet, nothing special but I enjoyed it.
