Thursday Movie Picks #9: TMP Television Edition: Crime

Hey! Welcome to Thursday Movie Picks where you get to share your movie picks for each topic presented every Thursday!  Based on the theme presented each week, you can pick up to 3 to 5 movies and explain why you picked those movies! This meme is being hosted by Wandering through the Shelves!

This week's theme is: TMP Television Edition: Crime!

I just love watching crime shows and there are so many crime shows that I've seen over the years that I probably won't list them all!  So, here are some crime shows that I had watched over the years.

Series inspired by the stories of GK Chesterton; a Catholic priest has a knack for solving mysteries in his English village.

I just love watching this series!  I never would have thought that we would have a crime series where a priest is solving crimes, while saving people's souls at the same time and this show manages to showcase that balance brilliantly!

An elite team of police forensic evidence investigation experts work their cases in Las Vegas.

This was one of the first crime shows that I had seen and it's one that I always have fond memories of. I haven't seen the most recent episodes, but I did enjoyed the older episodes a lot.

An idiosyncratic FBI agent investigates the murder of a young woman in the even more idiosyncratic town of Twin Peaks.

I only watched a little bit of this show, but from what I've seen, this seems like a really interesting series that was cancelled way too soon.  Oh well, at least it got a revival!

Thursday Movie Picks #8: Blockbuster Flops

Hey! Welcome to Thursday Movie Picks where you get to share your movie picks for each topic presented every Thursday!  Based on the theme presented each week, you can pick up to 3 to 5 movies and explain why you picked those movies! This meme is being hosted by Wandering through the Shelves!

This week's theme is: Blockbuster Flops!

There are a lot of movies out there that were Blockbuster Flops. Some deserved them, some didn't deserve them.  So, here's a list of some blockbuster flops that I'm familiar with.

Baron Munchausen, the world's greatest traveler, recounts his various adventures with his band of misfits to a group of actors and actresses who are creating a play about his adventures.

I've seen this movie before and I absolutely loved it!!!  It's a shame that it was one of the biggest box office bombs in history, but I just loved the crazy fantasy elements and the exciting story that this movie has to offer!

When Stu Miley (Brendan Fraser), a famous cartoonist, ends up being thrown into a coma, he ends up going to a place called Downtown, where he is confronted by his cartoon creation Monkeybone.  Monkeybone then ends up leaving Stu in Downtown while he goes up to the world of the living in Stu's body and now Stu must find a way to get back to the world of the living before Monkeybone releases a nightmare gas on the world.

Surprisingly, this movie had made it on my Weirdness Approved list just for being so weird!  Anyway, I'm not that surprised that this movie was a box office bomb, since the story wasn't that well crafted to begin with.  But, it does have some awesome designs!

The turtles are back and this time, they are facing off against a new set of villains who are Krang, Bebop and Rocksteady, along with their long time enemy, the Shredder!

I actually did enjoy this movie, even though there's just too many things going on in this film.  I'm not that surprised that this movie bombed, given how controversial the 2014 movie was.

Weird Images from Weird Movies and TV #8: The Fool and the Flying Ship

Hello everyone!  Welcome to "Weird Images from Weird Movies and TV!"  Here, I showcase some of the weirdest images I have ever seen in the movies and TV shows that I have watched over the years!  There are always images in movies and TV shows that stands out the most to viewers and I'm going to showcase some weird images that really stayed with me and showed me just how weird this movie or TV series can really get!

This week's TV Show is:

"The Fool and the Flying Ship" is absolutely my all-time favorite Rabbit Ears Productions story and is seriously the weirdest among all the stories!  There are a lot of bizarre images in this story and I would love to show them!

This is the Fool meeting up with the hearer in his strange flying ship!

And here's the fool meeting up with the old man that helped him with the Flying Ship. The weird thing about this image is that the old man literally has rabbit shaped eyebrows!

And here's the image of the puffer tearing the land apart to get to the penguins!

And here's the fool with the runner, who has horns in his head!

WEIRDEST IMAGE

It was tough trying to choose the weirdest image for this story since there are so many of them. But I would have to say that the appearance of the Eater himself with his green body and his head that is cleaved in two was the weirdest in the entire story!

Thursday Movie Picks #7: Parenthood

Hey! Welcome to Thursday Movie Picks where you get to share your movie picks for each topic presented every Thursday!  Based on the theme presented each week, you can pick up to 3 to 5 movies and explain why you picked those movies! This meme is being hosted by Wandering through the Shelves!

This week's theme is: Parenthood!

This was another list that I almost didn't do since I didn't watch many movies that dealt with parenting. But then I stumbled upon a couple of movies that do involve parenting that I have seen before and I wanted to showcase them!  So, here are some movies that dealt with parenthood that you should check out!

This film is about Bob and Helen Parr being forced to go into hiding after the superhero registration act gets put in place and they ended up having a family together.  But, Bob wants to go back to being a hero again and is having a hard time adjusting to his new family life.  It isn't until a mysterious woman named Mirage promises that she and her secret benefactor will make Bob a hero again.

I know that this movie mostly focuses on the superheroics of the Incredible Family, but it does featured many scenes of Bob and Helen trying to deal with being good parents to their kids Violet, Dash and Jack Jack.  And it was quite entertaining and thought-provoking at the same time!

When an actor named Daniel (Robin Williams) goes through a bitter divorce with his wife Miranda (Sally Field), he decides to disguise himself as a female babysitter in order to spend more time with his kids, who are held in custody by his ex-wife.

I know that I featured this movie on the TMP for Babysitters / Nannies, but this was still a wonderful film that focuses on the divorced parents trying to take care of their kids in different ways.

3. Stepmom

When Jackie (Susan Sarandon) becomes terminally ill, she has to deal with her ex-husband's new girlfriend Isabel (Julia Roberts), who will become their stepmother.

I remembered watching this movie years ago in high school and I remembered liking it, although it's been awhile since I last watched this film.  I need to rewatch this film again to see if it holds up!

Weird Images from Weird Movies and TV #7: The Triangle (Kolmnurk)

Hello everyone!  Welcome to "Weird Images from Weird Movies and TV!"  Here, I showcase some of the weirdest images I have ever seen in the movies and TV shows that I have watched over the years!  There are always images in movies and TV shows that stands out the most to viewers and I'm going to showcase some weird images that really stayed with me and showed me just how weird this movie or TV series can really get!

This week's movie is:

"The Triangle" was another bizarre Soviet animated short that I just so happened to stumbled upon and it was one that was just full of bizarre imagery, while being so intriguing at the same time!  So, here are some bizarre imagery from "The Triangle!"

Here's Julia and Viktor along with Eduard staring out the window after it got cracked.  This may be the least weird of the images here.

And here's the mouse sized Eduard standing near Julia's foot.  Seeing a mouse sized man suddenly come out of Julia and Viktor's stove is one of the oddest things I had seen in this short!

WEIRDEST IMAGE

Basically any image that deals with a real life photo being plastered on the animated characters are the weirdest images that are ever seen in this short.  Here are a couple more examples down below.

Look really hard at Julia's face here. She does have real life mouth and eyes photos plastered on her face.

Also, look really hard at Viktor's mouth here. It's also a real life mouth plastered on his face.
