The Sunday Watch (34): LONG TIME NO SEE!

The Sunday Watch is a meme for bloggers in general where you talk about what movies and TV shows you have watched for the week.  This is like a weekly wrap up post where you discuss about your week with other bloggers, with discussions about movies, TV shows and shorts being the main attractions of these posts.  The goal of this meme is to discuss the various movies and TV shows that bloggers have watched with other bloggers and discuss our opinions on each movie and TV show being talked about.  If you haven't watched any movies or TV shows for the week, but you still want to participate in this meme, then you can talk about other things that don't deal with movies and TV shows, like video games, books or whatever personal thing happened in your life.  This meme is hosted every Sunday, but you can make these posts anytime of the week and also, if you participate in this meme, please link your Sunday Watch post in the links down below!

Hey everyone!  Man, I keep on not posting here as often as I want to.  So much has been happening to me over the last few months and I'm still trying to get everything under control.

(HBO MAX)

* I finally got the chance to watch this movie and OH MY GOD, I absolutely loved this film!  I can see why a lot of people really loved this film and I really loved the unique take on the vampire lore, as well as focusing on the character relationships in this film.  This is definitely my favorite film of the year so far!

Weird Images from Weird Movies and TV #10: The Fool and the Flying Ship Part 2

Hello everyone!  Welcome to "Weird Images from Weird Movies and TV!"  Here, I showcase some of the weirdest images I have ever seen in the movies and TV shows that I have watched over the years!  There are always images in movies and TV shows that stands out the most to viewers and I'm going to showcase some weird images that really stayed with me and showed me just how weird this movie or TV series can really get!

This week's TV Show is:

WOW....it's been years since I last did a post for the "Weird Images from Weird Movies and TV" series.  Well, I have to say that I've been reviewing a ton of weird movies and TV shows since then and I got more down the pipeline!  For this week, we will be revisiting my favorite Rabbit Ears story "The Fool and the Flying Ship" because I just rediscovered some more weird images from this strange yet hilarious tale!

This is an image of the Fool's Brothers being given their father's blessings.  There's a weird human headed bird on the top of one of the brother's head that really stood out to me.

This is the image of the Puffer starting his transformation with a weird face.

This is the scene of the Flying Ship going over some bizarre looking trees.

This is the image of the Fool and the Eater looking over the ship.

WEIRDEST IMAGE

Probably the weirdest image in this collection is the image of the Fool's mother's hair suddenly transforming into a wolf's head since it just came out of nowhere in the story.

[SHORTS REVIEW] Pop (1996)

OR

Title: Pop

Country: United Kingdom

Genre: Surrealism / Comedy

Company: Aardman Animations

Directed by: Sam Fell

Year: 1996

MPAA Rating / TV Rating: N/A

Buy on:  N/A

The short starts off with a man who is waiting for a soda pop to come out of the machine, while his pet goldfish is getting irritated with being stuck inside a bowl.  But then, the soda finally comes out of the machine and the man is ready to drink the soda, until the soda starts shaking uncontrollably and it flies out of the man's hands and once it reaches the man, the results are explosive!

So recently, I started checking out some of Aardman Animation's older shorts that they made throughout the 1980s and 1990s and one of the shorts that I stumbled upon was "Pop." After I started watching this short, I was quite surprised by how bizarre this particular short was and I was even more surprised that this short came from Aardman Animations, of all animation studios!  When I think of Aardman Animations, I think mostly of "Wallace and Gromit" and "Shaun the Sheep," which are Aardman Animations' most popular animated series.  But I never knew that Aardman Animations had created several shorts in the past and now, I'm more interested in checking them all out!  "Pop" was a very interesting little, short film that was definitely one of the weirdest things that I have ever seen (which is really saying something as I've seen loads of weird shorts over the years).  What made this film so interesting to watch is that it manages to turn its simple premise about a man just wanting to drink a soda pop on its head in the weirdest way possible and I absolutely loved that about this film!  Another thing that I loved about this film were the bizarre designs of the characters.  Now sometimes, a character's design can be a make it or break it scenario for me, depending on how disturbing looking the designs are.  While the designs in this short are definitely creepy at times, I loved how weird the man and goldfish's faces were in this short and I especially loved the bizarre backgrounds in this short as they really made this short stand out from any other short that I have seen!

I don't really have that many issues with this short, but sometimes the designs of the characters can come off as being a bit creepy, especially with the man's eyes being heavily mismatched in some scenes.

Overall, "Pop" is a very intriguing and bizarre short that fans of Aardman Animations will definitely be interested in.  If you are interested in checking out more of Aardman Animations' shorts, then I would definitely give "Pop" a watch!

[MOVIE REVIEW] No Tears in Hell (2025)

Title: No Tears in Hell

Genre: Horror / Thriller

Company: Scatena and Rosner Films

Directed by: Michael Caissie

Year: 2025

MPAA Rating / TV Rating: N/A

SCREENER REVIEW

Based off a true story of the Russian serial killer, Alexander Spesivtsev, the film features a young teenage boy named Alex who turns out to be a cannibalistic serial killer who lures his victims to his house and kills them on site.  His mother is also an accomplice to Alex's crimes and the film is spent on Alex killing his victims, while the police are trying to find Alex's victims before it's too late.

So, this film marks the first time that I ever received a movie screener and man, was I so happy about finally getting a movie screener!  I was actually surprised that I was given a horror and thriller film to review, since I tend to watch a lot of films that are thrillers and horror and I was glad to receive such a film to review.  So, the first thing that I liked about this film was the premise.  The fact that this movie was based off of a real life murderer was what made this film really intense to watch and I actually felt frightened for Alex's victims.  Also, I do enjoy watching films that are about serial killers and this film did a great job at making things extremely disturbing whenever Alex kills off his victims.  Another thing that I liked about this film was the gore.  This film has some of the most gruesome and violent moments that I have ever seen in any thriller film and it was horrifying seeing how Alex murdered his victims.  Another thing that I liked about this film were the performances.  Luke Baines did a fantastic job at portraying Alex, the serial killer, as he made Alex into a truly threatening character.

My biggest issue with this movie was that the pacing was incredibly slow.  Even though this movie was about a serial killer, the film took too much time in getting to the more interesting parts and I often got bored throughout this movie because of the pacing.

Overall, even though "No Tears in Hell" has a very interesting premise, a fantastic performance from Luke Baines and lots of gory scenes, the film suffers from very slow pacing.  If you are interested in checking out a film about a serial killer, then this film might interest you.  However, if you are looking for a serial killer film that has good pacing, then this film might not be suitable for you.
