The Sunday Post Meme (6)

Hey everybody! I am participating in a book meme called the Sunday Post which is being hosted by Kimba theCaffeinated Book Reviewer! The goal of this meme is to share news you have on various books and things you've read or received and also talk about what is coming up for your blog!  Movie hauls can include library books, yard sale finds, arcs and bought movies and you can share these finds with other movie bloggers!

Well, here's a bit of an update for this blog.  I have noticed that I haven't been posting on this blog for awhile now and that was because I was trying to check out more surreal movies and TV shows at the time and I have to tell you that there are still a lot of surreal movies and TV shows I still haven't watched yet, but I'm definitely making it my goal to watch as many surreal movies and TV shows as I can.  Also, my birthday was just this weekend (February 4th) and I had a really fun time, especially since we ate Red Lobster that day!  I also got "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" on DVD and I can't wait to watch that movie!

I have added some new additions to this blog: Surreal Discussions where we discuss everything that deals with surrealism and Surreal Image of the Week where I show you various surreal images for that particular week!

Well, that’s the Sunday News for today and I will have more news for the various movies and TV shows I’ve seen in the near future!

Surreal Discussions #1: Why I Like Surrealism so much?

Hey everyone! Welcome to my first ever Surreal Discussions where I talk about things that are surreal!  Now, I know that I haven't been as active on this blog as I was before and that was because I was busy trying to watch more surreal movies and posting my thoughts on these movies on this blog.

This week's surreal discussion is going to be on why do I like surrealism so much?

Well, I'll tell you all a little story about how I got into surrealism in the first place and my journey into eventually liking surrealism.  When I was little, I wasn't a huge fan of anything surreal due to the fact that I didn't understand the nature of surrealism and in all honesty, surrealism used to creep me out when I was small, so I didn't really have any attachment to the genre.

It wasn't until I watched the Rabbit Ears' version of "The Fool and the Flying Ship," with narration by Robin Williams that I slightly started to get into surrealism.  Well, at the time, I was probably more into Robin Williams' narration of the story rather than the artwork or the actual story itself.  However, when I got older, I started to really appreciate both the artwork and the story as well as Robin Williams' narration and I started to get into the surreal nature of the story also.

After loving this version of "The Fool and the Flying Ship," I started searching for more of Henrik Drescher's works and that was where I discovered the magic of surrealism and I had been hooked on this genre ever since!

What I loved about surrealism is that you can take any premise you want (such as making a movie about a talking bed) and make it interesting to the audience since the audience wouldn't be expecting something so original and bizarre to be made into a movie or a TV series.

That was why I decided to make a blog that is dedicated to surrealism because I want to chat with other bloggers who also have a great love for surrealism and see what their opinions on certain movies and TV shows are like and we could compare and contrast what we saw in the movies.  So, if you are also a fan of surreal movies and TV shows, then please let the world know about your love for surrealism!

Top Ten Tuesday #5: Top 5 Movie/TV Goals for 2015!

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish.

So today’s Top Ten Tuesday theme is my top 5 Movie/TV Goals for 2015!

So, here's my top 5 Movie/TV Goals in 2015 (in no particular order)!

1.  Go to the movie theaters more often:  In all honesty, I haven't been to a movie theater since "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" came out in theaters and it would be nice to go to the movies and enjoy some of the current movies being put out.

2. Catch up on some episodes from current TV shows: Now, I had been pretty behind on some of my favorite current TV shows and hopefully in 2015, I will catch up on watching shows like "The Flash," "Constantine," and "Arrow!"

3. Watch some new movies and TV shows: I'm pretty sure that there will be some new TV shows and movies coming out in 2015 and I want to check them out as soon as possible!

4. Read up on more comic books: Since the superhero genre is getting even more popular , I want to be able to learn more about the various comic book characters that will be getting their own movies in 2015 such as "Avengers" and "Ant-Man!"

5. Write some new fan fictions on my favorite characters:  Now, this may seem to have nothing to do with movies and TV in general, but I have actually wanted to get some good fan fictions out there that stars my favorite comic book characters (X-Men and Batman) and my favorite TV shows (The Angry Beavers and Hey Arnold!)  and I would like to get my fan fiction ideas out in public as soon as possible!

So, what are your top 5 movie/TV goals in 2015? Please feel free to answer in the comments below!
